SMS Terms

Program

Gabe the Guardian sends one daily SMS check-in to each enrolled senior. After the caregiver signs up, both the senior and caregiver receive a one-time opt-in confirmation text. No further messages are sent unless the recipient replies YES.

Message frequency

Varies. A typical day with one reply is 3 messages (Gabe → senior, senior → Gabe, Gabe → caregiver). If the senior keeps chatting, additional companion replies follow, capped at 20 per hour per senior.

Costs

Standard message and data rates may apply. Gabe the Guardian does not charge for SMS.

Opt-out

Reply STOP to any Gabe text to unsubscribe. One confirmation message will follow. Reply START to resume.

Help

Reply HELP for help.

Consent for the senior

When a caregiver enrolls a senior, the caregiver attests they have permission. Before any check-ins begin, Gabe texts the senior directly to confirm consent. Daily check-ins only start after the senior replies YES.

Carriers

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Billing

Gabe the Guardian costs $5 per month per caregiver account after a 30-day free trial. The trial begins at signup and no payment method is required to start. Payment is collected by Stripe; we do not store card numbers. You can cancel any time from the dashboard "Manage billing" link. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and stops all subsequent charges. After cancellation or trial expiry without payment, daily check-ins are paused but your account, senior records, and biography entries are retained for 30 days in case you resubscribe; after that they may be deleted.

Refunds

Because billing is monthly and you can cancel at any time without penalty, we do not generally issue refunds. If you were charged after a cancellation request or due to a billing error, contact us and we'll make it right.

Not an emergency service

Gabe the Guardian is a wellness check-in service. It is not a substitute for emergency services, medical care, or in-person checks on a loved one. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911. We make no guarantee that our alerts to caregivers will arrive instantly, reliably, or in any particular time frame.
